  WHAT IS A RETREAT?

A retreat is a time set aside, and away from, the workplace and/or home environment to place of quiet and relaxation where one may meditate alone, and/or learn and share with spiritual leaders and fellow participants. A Directed Retreat is a walk with Jesus in the lifetime journey to His Father, our Creator.  It is a very special opportunity to work one-on-one with a spiritual director who guides you each day in a selection of Scripture readings, prayer time, and journal keeping.

IS IT FOR ME?

To answer this question you must consider the importance of prayer and quiet time in your own life.  A directed retreat may answer that inner yearning to further develop your relationship with God.  If you are uncertain, talk with your pastor, or perhaps a friend who has attended a directed retreat or we invite you to call us with your questions.

Each day you will be given the opportunity to participate in a liturgy, to meet with your spiritual director for 45 minutes, and you will be invited to three full meals.  The rest of each day is for prayer, reading, reflection, enjoying the out-of-doors, journaling and rest.  An atmosphere of quiet is provided to encourage reflection and prayer.

WHAT DO I NEED AND WHAT CAN I EXPECT?

A desire for a special walk with Jesus, a Bible and a notebook or journal for writing.  You may want to bring a special book and tapes that are helpful to you, and perhaps a candle for personal prayer time. If using a tape recorder please use earphones.  The atmosphere is informal and casual clothing is appropriate.

You can expect a friendly home with a private bedroom, good food, and tranquility.  If you wish a special room please indicate on your registration form.  Fruit and juices are available at all times.  We have a Labyrinth, swings, a hammock, bikes, a gazebo and a large back yard to provide prayer space, exercise and relaxation.

TIME AND COST

The cost for each Directed Retreat is listed below; all directed retreats are for five days except for the Holy Week retreat that runs for 6 days and the Advent Retreat which gives you the option of a 3 to 8 day retreat.  Each retreat requires a non-refundable deposit of $50.00.  The retreats begin at 7:30pm on the first day and conclude at 1:30 on the final day.  The price of the retreat helps to defray the cost of lodging, meals and personal spiritual direction.

Massage Therapist on staff.
