John 23rd Mission & Vision Statement

Our Mission Statement

John XXIII Retreat Center:

a Catholic retreat center that provides a safe, nurturing, hospitable, and homelike environment. Founded under the inspiration of the Blessed Pope John XXIII.

John XXIII, by the Diocese of Lafayette-in-Indiana, is a place of learning, renewal, and spiritual growth. Its purpose is to build the Kingdom of God and proclaim the Good News to peopleĀ of all faiths. The ministry of the Center is rooted in scripture, prayer, and community building which results in healing and forgiveness.

Our Vision Statement

John XXIII Center, in keeping with the vision and spirit of Pope John XXIII, warmly welcomes all who come. It is a place of hospitality, renewal, retreat, rest, reflection, prayer, and openness. The vision is holistic, honoring the significance of mind, body, spirit, and all of creation as channels of grace.

John XXIII Center is a sacred space in which both dialogue and silence are fostered. Its retreats and programs serve to nourish and deepen the faith of those who come in order to live that faith responsibly in a spirit of joy in our world for the sake of God’s reign.

The primary symbol for John XXIII Retreat Center is an open door. All seekers are invited to enter through the “door” whether that be for a weekend retreat, private prayer and reflection, a sponsored program, a day of reflection, or individual spiritual direction.
