Dear Friends,
You may have noticed our new logo on the front of this newsletter, thanks to Tina and John Gianfagna who designed it. I hope it speaks to you of the newness and the expansion that is happening here at John XXIII Retreat Center. We are in the midst of a Capital Campaign and adding a new wing to the East side of the building. The new wing will allow the Retreat Center space to grow. It will provide a first floor spiritual direction room and office for the director. This allows handicapped availability close to the outside door, and it gives us two private spaces for direction during our directed retreats. We will also have a larger meeting room on the first floor to allow space for groups of 50 or less . This room will also double as a chapel space when needed. Our present chapel will remain, but it only comfortably seats about twenty people.
As we continue our Capital Campaign “To Raise the Roof” through June and July we will finish off the second floor when the money comes in. The second floor will have four private bedrooms with individual baths with at least one that will be handicapped accessible. It will also have a small kitchenette for people who wish to have more solitude during their stay here. And when we meet our goal of $450,000 we will add an elevator so that the second floor will be accessible to all.
I am grateful for your participation in retreats at John XXIII Retreat Center in the past as well as your donations of time, talent and treasure. For the future of John XXIII to become a reality we need your continued support. Browse through the following pages and pick out a retreat you can attend. There are many ways to give financially as well, or consider remembering John XXIII Retreat Center in your will. You can sponsor a new room or we have a wish list of items that also would make the retreat center more homey to those who come here. We remember you and your loved ones in our prayers here each week, so please remember our expansion project as well both in your prayers and in your giving so that we have room to grow for the ever changing needs of our retreatants that come here today.
In the church year it is ordinary time right now since there are no special feasts. But with God there is no ordinary time. May you continue to make your time with God special by attending one of our scheduled retreats here at John XXIII Retreat Center or by booking a retreat for your group.
